Frequently asked questions
Which trades does SteriLog cover?
SteriLog is one app for the body-art trades that sterilize reusable instruments: tattoo and body art, permanent makeup and microblading, and body piercing. When you set up the app you choose the trades you run (you can pick more than one), and you can change that any time in Settings → Trades. The app shows the spore-test, autoclave, training, and consent records those trades need, all in a single shared logbook.
How does the app know my state's rules?
When you set up the app you pick your state, and SteriLog tunes the spore-test cadence, how long each record is retained, and which fields are required to match that state's rule. If your state isn't listed, choose 'My state isn't listed' for a safe built-in default, so you're never blocked from logging.
How do I log a spore test, and what happens if one fails?
Log each mail-in biological spore test as Pass, Fail, or Pending against the autoclave it came from. If a result comes back Fail, the app opens a corrective-action workflow: reprocess every load run since the last passing test, mark the affected clients as notified, and record the re-test. The failed test and its follow-up stay on the record, so an inspector can see it was caught and handled.
What goes in the autoclave cycle log?
Each sterilizer cycle records the load contents, temperature, pressure, exposure time, the chemical-indicator result, and whether the packages were labeled with the date and initials. Logging cycles alongside your spore tests gives you the full sterilization record most states expect to see.
How do I keep my staff's Bloodborne Pathogen training on file?
Add each staff member's BBP training with its provider and expiry date, and attach a photo of the certificate. The app reminds you before a certificate lapses so training never quietly expires.
How do I produce a report for an inspector?
Export a paginated PDF for any reporting period in one tap. It opens with a cover page showing your business, license, state, the period, and a completeness summary, followed by a table for each record type. Failed spore tests are flagged, and the cover carries an audit-verification stamp. Share or print it straight from the app.
What is the 'Verified' badge on a record?
Every record carries a tamper-evident, SHA-256 hash-chained audit trail. When the chain is intact the record shows a 'Verified' badge; if a record was changed outside the normal edit flow it shows 'Altered' instead. This lets you, and an inspector, trust that the log hasn't been quietly altered.
Can more than one operator share the same logbook?
Yes — sharing a shop's logbook with other operators is what the Pro plan is for. From Settings → Team & sharing, the owner can invite another person; each invited person needs their own iCloud account and accepts from a link in Mail or Messages. You can set each person to read-only or read-and-write and remove anyone at any time. The records stay in the owner's private iCloud, with no Handler Labs server in the middle.
Where is my data stored, and how do I move to a new phone?
Your records live in your own private iCloud and sync automatically across the iPhones and iPads signed in to the same Apple Account — no account to create with us, and nothing stored on our servers. To move to a new phone, sign in with the same Apple ID and install the app; your records appear. You can also export a JSON backup any time from Settings → Backup & sync, and restore it from there.
How do the free trial and subscription work?
SteriLog starts with a 14-day free trial. After that it's a subscription: Standard (one operator, single location) at $14.99/month or $119/year, or Pro (two or more operators, or multiple locations) at $24.99/month or $199/year. It renews automatically until you cancel, which you can do any time in your Apple Account settings. On a new device, use Settings → Restore Purchases to restore your subscription.
How do I delete all my data?
Go to Settings → Delete all data and confirm with 'Delete everything.' This permanently removes the records this app created, both on your device and in your private iCloud, and it can't be undone, so export a backup first if you might need it. A shop that another owner shared with you is not affected by this.
